Day 10 Tuesday 17th August
Had a lazy day. Went to Castlepoint for food - Ben and Enna coming home from Newday today so will cook Sausage Casserole.
Day 9 Monday 16th August
Today we did one of the best walks we have ever done anywhere and it is only an hour from home!
P found a circular route on the map that looked good, taking in the Jurassic coast and Purbeck hills. We parked outside Kimmeridge and took path to beach, then up onto coast path.
Met 2 older couples - one from Exeter who have walked the whole of the SW coastal path and said this was the best port of all of it. The other were from Swindon and started coming there when they couldn't get to Switzerland in 1990 and had been coming back ever since - this was their favorite bit!
Then we came inland and walked back along the ridge - fantastic 360 view point.
9.3 miles. Fantastic weather - hot (25 C), sunny and a fairly strong NW wind that kept us cool all the way.
Perfect weather, perfect scenery, perfect day - made in Heaven!

Day 8 Sunday 15th August
Took day off from church. Read for a bit - just started "Demolishing Strongholds" by Dave Devonish - had it for a while and thought it followed on from Adam quite well - good so far.
Did a hive inspection and then did a long walk in the forest from Slap Bottom, round Burley and up through Ridley Wood - fantastic! 8.7 miles. Spur of the moment decision to eat out - Cat and Fiddle had run out of food! So we went to Cooper Dean Harvester - had delicious fish and chips.

Day 7 Saturday 14th August
Set off at 8 a.m. Did well until we got to Dorchester at 11.00. From then on it was slow or stopped all the way to Wimborne. Finally got home at 2! 3 hours from Dorchester.
House was clean and tidy when we got in - so lovely of out kids to do that - think it was mainly Bethan who stayed a few days after Ben & Enna had gone to Newday.
Unpacked and finished reading Adam by Ted Dekker - very good. Christian thriller all about demon possession. Think I will read some of his others that are more allegorical.
Watched the final 2 episodes of "State of Play" - some great performances, Bill Nighy was so funny.

Day 6 Friday 13th August
Went for run @ 7.30 from Penzance to Marazion 5 miles.
Like crazy impetuous fools we went back to Lamorna Cove today and walked East this time.
Beautiful weather and a lovely walk - saw some Common lizards and a friendly Robin.

Got to Mousehole - ate our fruit and wandered back.
Sat on the car and watched all the kayaks etc. Came back and chilled then packed a bit and watched more of the aforementioned DVD! Finished the day sitting outside watching the meteors - such a clear night and SO many stars. Great holiday.

Day 5 Thursday 12th August
Nice bright morning. Drove down to Lamorna cove and walked west along the coastal path - bit of a scramble at first over large boulders and then it evened out a bit. Lovely scenery and weather but we were both a bit grumpy and so the conversation was limited! We had both cheered up by the time we got back to the car and had lunch sitting by the harbor.
Spent a very relaxing rest of the afternoon reading, dozing and watching the activity in the bay - canoes, pedaloes, snorkling and diving as well as little kids. Had home cooked scampi and chips etc for tea. Watched second episode of "State of play" - gripping!

Day 4 Wednesday 11th August
High cloud. Went for run @ 7.00 down country lanes around our cottage - 4 miles.
We went up to the north coast today an area of Cornwall renowned for tin mining. It was a very desolate area not very attractive with chimneys and abandoned pump houses. There was a modern but disused mine now a tourist attraction. Both found it a bit depressing. Much nicer once we reached Pendeen lighthouse - scrounged some suncream off a dutch girl.
We came back to the car via some fields and tried to find a nice spot to park and eat - no success. Came home, read for a few hours and then watched the first part of "State of Play" DVD. Very good.

Day 3 Tuesday 10th August
Mizzle and heavier bouts of rain through the morning. Drove into Penzance and had coffee in the Green Coffee Bean. P bought pink fleece and walking hat. Home for lunch and then the weather cleared suddenly. Went down to Porthcurno and walked on Coastal path passed Minack Theatre towards Lands End.
Heather and gorse were amazing.
Pleasant walking weather with a cooling breeze. 5 miles.

Day 2 - Monday 9th August
Mizzle! Damp morning. Stayed in and read - very relaxing actually.
P finished reading "The Host" - apparently it was more exciting than "Twiglet" - wow.
Had lunch here and then set off for St.Ives. Decided we would use the Park & Ride facility at Lelant Saltings rail station but there was a queue to get into the car park. It did not look like moving and so we drove to the next station - Lelant hoping to pick up the train there.
However, the train only stops there in "rush hour" so we decided to follow the coast path to St.Ives - nice walk and the sun came out so it was pleasantly warm. Wandered round St.Ives and P bought some beads.
Just got the 17.25 train back to Lelant.
Came home via Tesco and had chicken salad for dinner. Watched Bill Bailey DVD (from cottage library) - very funny.
Day 1 - Sunday 8th August
I was awake early so got up and watched the cricket highlights on the laptop. Went to Zennor and started walking the coastal path towards St.Ives.
It soon became hot and sticky so we turned round and came home for a shower. Chilled in the afternoon by reading outside. I cooked a batch of chilli. Went down to Mousehole in the evening - quiet and laid back.
We saw numerous piles of stones that people had made on the beach - art for art's sake!
Came home and watched that last (of 3) Sherlock - v.v.good.

Arrival - Saturday 7th August
Left home @ 7.00 am. Good journey. Hit traffic @ Bodmin. Went to Tesco in Penzance first as we arrived before 2.00 pm. Picked up some food. Cottage is lovely.
Unpacked, P fell asleep. Went down to Marazion and walked along the front. Came home for a Tesco deal meal for 2 - quite good - chicken with Dauphinouse potatoes. Watched Amish documentary on Enna's laptop - v. interesting.
